The problem.
Buying or selling a private plate in the UK is legally complex and opaque. Buyers cannot tell whether a plate can legally be assigned to their car. Prices hide extra fees. Listings may not actually be available. Sellers have no idea what their plate is worth and no liquid way to sell it.
What we built.
A search first marketplace with a managed transfer service behind it. BigReg is not an exchange. It verifies availability with the DVLA, handles the transfer and delivers the plates. On the sell side it either buys the plate outright or lists it on commission, with a 24 hour response promise.

How it's built.
Search is the entry point, not storytelling. The first screen is an action. The availability check happens before payment, which removes both the fear and the refund risk. Optional services are presented as included, which frames value instead of upselling. The sell side asks for the minimum: few fields, a clear 24-hour promise, no valuation guarantee.
